AP monthly photo contest

Each month The Associated Press honors photographers for outstanding coverage while on assignment.

The winners of the April 2025 AP Photo Contest are:

Evgeniy Maloletka for News Photography Single Image, for his photo of a Ukranian man wounded in a Russian strike on a residential neighborhood.

Natacha Pisarenko for News Photography Story, for her coverage in Argentina surrounding the death of Pope Francis.

Jae C. Hong for Feature Photography Single Image, for his photo of Hung Vu, 73, a former South Vietnamese army officer who left the country in 1975, posing with a photo of his younger self, taken during the Vietnam War, at his army surplus store in the Little Saigon neighborhood of Westminster, California.

Aaron Favila for Feature Photography Story, for his coverage of Holy Week events in the Philippines.

Ashley Landis for Sports Photography Single Image, for her photo of Rory McIlroy, of Northern Ireland, reacting after winning in a playoff against Justin Rose after the final round at the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia.

Matt Slocum for Sports Photography Story, for his coverage of golf events in Augusta, Georgia. leading up to and during the Masters golf tournament.
