AP monthly photo contest

Each month The Associated Press honors photographers for outstanding coverage while on assignment.

The winners for the April 2022 AP Photo Contest are Rodrigo Abd for News Photography Single Image, for his photo of Nadiya Trubchaninova, 70, crying while kneeling next to the coffin that contains the remains of her 48-year-old son during his funeral in the cemetery of Mykulychi, on the outskirts of Kyiv, Ukraine.
