AP monthly photo contest

Each month The Associated Press honors photographers for outstanding coverage while on assignment. 

The winners of the February 2025 AP Photo Contest are Petros Giannakouris for News Photography Single Image, for his photo of a protestor running as riot police stand outside of the parliament during a rally in central Athens, Greece, to mark two years since a deadly rail disaster that has also triggered hundreds of other demonstrations and a general strike.

Matias Delacroix for News Photography Story, for his coverage of Panama migrants and a triggered reverse flow by the Trump administration in the U.S.

Matias Basualdo for Feature Photography Single Image, for his photo of shadows of children cast on a court at a public park during a sports workshop organized by the municipality during school summer vacation in Santiago, Chile.

Emilio Morenatti for Feature Photography Story, for his feature series on daily life in Greenland.

John Locher for Sports Photography Single Image, for his photo of David Benavidez landing a left punch to David Morrell during a light heavyweight title boxing match in Las Vegas.

Aaron Favila for Sports Photography Story, for his coverage of skating during the 9th Asian Winter Games in China.
