Each month The Associated Press honors photographers for outstanding coverage while on assignment.
The winners for the September 2021 AP Photo Contest are Emilio Morenatti for News Photography Single Image, for his photo of lava from a volcanic eruption flowing on the island of La Palma in Spain’s Canary Islands.
