Superstorm Sandy: Before and after
Hurricane Sandy, also known as Superstorm Sandy, began as a tropical wave in the Caribbean Sea on October 22, 2012. It was the deadliest and second-costliest hurricane to hit the United States after Hurricane Katrina. Below is a selection of images showing the destruction of Superstorm Sandy to the New York and New Jersey coastline, combined with the reconstruction of the damage from 2013 and 2014.
