About photojournalist Jae C. Hong
Jae C. Hong has been a staff photojournalist for The Associated Press since 2007. Hong recently moved to Tokyo from Los Angeles on a year-long stint to visually document Tokyo before the 2020 Olympics.
He started his AP career as a photo intern in 2005. Hong has covered presidential elections, five Olympics, NBA Championships, Super Bowl games and many other major news events. Hong graduated from Cal State Northridge with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
Born and raised in South Korea, Hong moved to the United States when he was 16. Hong’s favorite photo subject is Sue, his wife of 23 years.
