BUILDING BLOCKS

Our aim is to build blocks of content and arrange them, alongside photos, to create an experience for readers. These individual pieces should be modern and memorable – designed for customers to download and re-create these experiences on their sites.

DIGITAL VIDEO

One of the questions we often get is how the blocks of content that we produce in the video format are different from our NR and CR edits. The most significant difference is that our pieces don’t tell an entire story in the way that CR edits do.

Instead, our focus is to identify a narrow slice of the overall story that can add either context or emotion to the text piece. Here are several:

Character studies – A NR/CR edit might use a soundbite and a bit of b-roll of one character. We might, for instance, gather material from the cutting room floor, combine them with photos, to bring viewers more deeply in a specific character’s life.

Historical explainers – We have a rich video and photo archive going back decades. We can, for example, harness these visuals, such as British Movietone, to create visually engaging explainers on the historical roots of a conflict.

Animated explainers – Sometimes our stories deal with complicated topics. Rather than devoting lots of text real estate to explaining them, we can use an animated piece to do the heavy lifting – a visually led method that helps viewers retain information.
