AP monthly photo contest

Each month The Associated Press honors photographers for outstanding coverage while on assignment. 

The winners for the February 2024 AP Photo Contest are Tsafrir Abayov for News Photography Single Image, for his photo of Israeli soldiers posing for a selfie near a tank position on the Gaza Strip border in southern Israel.

Altaf Qadri for News Photography Story, for his coverage of protesting farmers in India where they are blocking highways and holding demonstrations in many rural areas to protest over a range of grievances. 

Antonio Calanni for Feature Photography Single Image, for his photo of people looking at a man wearing a costume of the “Generale” at the end of the "Battle of the Oranges,” part of Carnival celebrations in the northern Italian Piedmont town of Ivrea, Italy.

Natacha Pisarenko for Feature Photography Story, for her series on Eva Perón, or Evita, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Martin Meissner for Sports Photography Single Image, for his photo of Bayern’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer receiving the second goal by Bochum's Keven Schlotterbeck during the German Bundesliga soccer match between VfL Bochum and FC Bayern Munich in Bochum, Germany.

Hassan Ammar and Lee Jin-Man for Sports Photography Story, for their combined coverage of the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
