Each month The Associated Press honors photographers for outstanding coverage while on assignment. 

The winners for the January 2024 AP Photo Contest are Maya Alleruzzo for News Photography Single Image, for her photo of friends and relatives of Israeli reservist Ariel Mordechay Wollfstal attending his funeral at a cemetery in the West Bank settlement of Kfar Etzion.

David Goldman for News Photography Story, for his coverage of New Hampshire's Republican presidential primary.

Matias Delacroix for Feature Photography Single Image, for his image of a snorkeler watching a shoal of fish near a shipwreck off Cubagua Island, Venezuela. 

Natacha Pisarenko and Mario De Fina for Feature Photography Story, for their combined story on celebrations of Argentina’s folk Saint "Gauchito" Gil.

Aijaz Rahi for Sports Photography Single Image, for his photo of Indonesia's goalkeeper Ernando Ari Sutaryadi reacting after Australia's Martin Boyle scored his side's second goal during their Asian Cup round of 16 soccer match at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Louise Delmotte, Andy Wong and Alessandra Tarantino for Sports Photography Story, for their combined coverage of the Australian Open tennis championships at Melbourne Park, in Melbourne, Australia.
