The winners for the May 2021 AP Photo Contest are Dar Yasin for News Photography Single Image, for his photo of a Kashmiri doctor in a protective suit taking a nasal swab sample of a nomad to test for COVID-19 in Budgam, southwest of Srinagar, Indian controlled Kashmir.
Bernat Armangue for News Photography Story, for his series of images documenting thousands of migrants arriving into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, near the border of Morocco and Spain.
Rafiq Maqbool for Feature Photography Single Image, for his photo of fishermen trying to move a fishing boat to safer ground on the Arabian Sea coast in Mumbai, India, as cyclone Tauktae was moving in.
Julio Cortez for Feature Photography Story, for his series documenting the Herndon Monument Climb at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Eugene Hoshiko for Sports Photography Single Image, for his photo of athletes warming up prior to the men's synchronized 10-meter platform preliminary at the FINA Diving World Cup at the Tokyo Aquatics Center in Tokyo.
David J. Phillip for Sports Photography Story, for his series of the PGA Championship golf tournament on the Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
