Each month The Associated Press honors photographers for outstanding coverage while on assignment.

The winners for the April 2019 AP Photo Contest are Gemunu Amarasinghe for News Photography Single Image, of family grieving the death of a 12-year-old victim of a bomb blast in Sri Lanka; Fernando Lllano, Boris Vergara and Ariana Cubillos for News Photography Story, for coverage of the political turmoil in Venezuela.

Ariel Schalit for Feature Photography Single Image, of Ultra-Orthodox Jews watching the funeral of a Rabbi in Jerusalem.

Bernat Armangue for Feature Photography Story, for his story on Hindu Nationalism.

Rich Pedroncelli for Sports Photography Single Image, of Sacramento Kings guard Corey Brewer after a dunk. No winner was named for Sports Photography Story this month.
