Close Up: Photographer David Goldman

David Goldman was born in New York City and received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Minor in Spanish at the University of Rhode Island.



In 2010, Goldman joined the AP as a staff photographer based in Atlanta, Ga. He has covered events in his career ranging from U.S. Presidential campaigns and Olympic Games to stories in Afghanistan, Gaza, the West Bank and locally in the Southeastern U.S. He was part of the AP’s Pulitzer Prize Nominated Finalist team entry in 2010 for Breaking News Photography for their coverage of the war in Afghanistan. Goldman’s work has earned him Photographer of the Year from the New York Press Photographer’s Association in 2010 and 2013 and a World Press award in 2012 for his photo of a Canadian soldier in Afghanistan.
