Close up: Photographer Bernat Armangue
Bernat Armangue, an award-winning photographer, was born in Barcelona and joined the AP there in 2003. He moved to Jerusalem in 2008 where he spent 5 years covering the Middle East, focusing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In 2014, he moved to New Delhi to become the AP’s chief photographer for South Asia. He has covered stories ranging from the Arab Spring to the political violence in Kenya in 2008 to Nelson Mandela’s funeral in South Africa. He also has extensive sports experience, including coverage of multiple Summer Olympics to the French Open in Tennis to the Formula One World Championship.
