Diwali, also known as the "festival of lights", was celebrated recently by Hindus throughout the world.  Signifying light's triumph over darkness, the Diwali festival unfolds every autumn and coincides with the new moon of Hindu Lunisolar.  Below is a selection of photos from this year's festivities.
